It is the perfect food for feeding large saltwater and freshwater fish and aquatic turtles. Krill provides essential nutrients that help maintain high energy levels, health, and wellness. Each spring, our krill (Euphausia superba), a shrimp-like crustacean, is sustainably harvested from Antarctic waters. As they mainly feed on phytoplankton (microscopic marine algae), krill is rich in marine-derived proteins and rich in marine-derived lipids (including the Omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA). They also naturally contain astaxanthin (a potent natural antioxidant and one of the pigments responsible for the vibrant colors of many aquarium fish) and choline (a water-soluble vitamin having critical metabolic functions in fish and shrimp). Freeze-drying is a process where the product is set on shelves in a drying chamber and frozen. Once frozen, the air is removed from the chamber by a vacuum pump, and the shelves are heated.
